Fear

II Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. KJV

This is a verse I have recently committed to my memory to remind myself every day that FEAR does not need to and should not rule my life. So many fears can and do prevent us from finding the things in life we really need and want like love, new experiences, taking a chance on doing new things without fear of failure. I can speak for myself when I say how true this is.

Along with studying the book of Proverbs this month and writing down my thoughts in a journal, I am also starting a word study on this word Fear in my Bible, both negative fear which first comes to mind, but also the positive things in the word Fear, such as Fear of the Lord which actually in today’s language means respect, reverence and awe. Not a scary thing at all in that usage of the word.

I look forward to this word study along with my study of Proverbs daily to put my fears in their proper perspective, to rid myself of the fears that prevent me from going forward in my life. I look forward to sharing what I learn from this venture and to translate what I learn into positive actions in my life.
